REAL ALE NEWS
Fulwood and Broughton Cricket Club have a fine heritage of providing a year round selection of Real Ales, as recognised on a number of occasions by CAMRA (the campaign for real ale)
The West Lancs Branch of CAMRA's Summer / Autumn 2011 edition of Ale Cry visited our club recently, and made the following Testemonial was made by Branch Secretary, Gordon Small -
"For the real ale drinker, the cricket club that leads the way in off-field hospitality has to be FULWOOD AND BROUGHTON CRICKET CLUB, located on Garstang Road in Fulwood. It was match day when I paid my visit, which meant that there was a sizeable crowd, although not everyone was there like me to make use of the club's bar facilities.
This is a club that has been selling real ale for over 10 years now, with a changing guest beer always being available which is often from a local micro-brewery. When I was there the beer on offer was Bowland Gold from Bowland Brewery, and at £2.40 a pint the beer went down as quickly as the wickets went down on the field of play."

A testimonial from an Ale Cry reader after visiting Fulwood and Broughton CC, and reading the article above in Ale Cry :-
"I refer to the article by Gordon Small in the previous issue regarding the availability of real ale in sports clubs.
This summer I have had the pleasure of visiting Fulwood and Broughton Cricket Club on two occasions and was extremely impressed with both the cricket and club facilities, including the quality of the real ale on offer. On my first visit I enjoyed Roosters Yankee then later Bowland Dragon on my second trip both served in tip top condition considering they were the first pints pulled at lunchtime prior to the commencement of a match.
Fulwood and Broughton Cricket Club play in the Palace Shield cricket league on a small but picturesque ground on Garstang Road, Fulwood and is well worth a visit.
Finally, I always enjoy reading Ale Cry, the editors, contributors and advertisers past and present deserve every credit for producing an excellent informative colourful magazine."
